Sheppard and Mabrey will be fine
Sheppard has stepped up her game big time this season and without her and Mabrey we would never be in the position we are in right now. Those two kids have more heart for the game than I have ever seen and if you see how each one pushes themselves in the off season they will only get better. Every player goes through slumps at times. Please tell me where we would be without those two and Cole. Replacing Cole will be a problem but without Sheppard and Mabrey taking a risk and coming to Virginia Tech we would not be an NCAA Tournament team this year. They are both leaders on and off the court, there is a lot more to it than just numbers. Both of them have improved since the previous year and they will improve on those numbers. Sheppard can be a shooting machine when she is hot and Mabrey comes from a family where one sister is in the WNBA and the other is a coach at Notre Dame. Both played on extremely good Notre Dame squads, either making it to the Final Four or winning the National Championship. She has the guidance she needs. Sheppard had to adjust to being the center of attention this year and Mabrey had to adjust to playing a different position. That will lead to turnovers, but I truly believe they both will be better next year with all of the new experiences they dealt with this year. Replacing Cole though is the big question mark.
